Reminder

As we move into the weekend, the goal is to provide a positive experience and learning environment for the players, coaches, umpires, and spectators alike! We realize it is very easy to get caught up in the spirit of the competition. In the end, however, our organization is designed to be fun, foster healthy sportsmanship while promoting the sport of softball. We can't help but think this sign says it all. Please keep this in mind as our young ladies and coaches leave it all out on the field this weekend. Thank you.

Thank you to everyone who participated in this weekends tournament, the young ladies who left it all on the field, and to all the volunteer staff at all the sites for helping us host such a large event over a fairly large area! If any of you are interested in joining this very team oriented group of people from all ends of the county, please let us know! It truly takes a village!
With that being said, we all know you are anxiously waiting the 2018 Humboldt Fastpitch League Schedule! Without further ado:

Umpire Trianing

Umpires,

This is a courteous reminder about the USA umpire training

being held at the HSU campus on Sunday, March 25th from 1pm to 5:30pm.

Attendance at this training is required in order to officiate for us.

It would be great for you all to consider registering with USA Umpire; you would need a form of identification and there is a fee to enroll.

Although this training is free, there is an initial investment needed to be a USA Softball umpire.

We are meeting at Humboldt State University. We will first meet in the Recreation and Wellness Center (formerly Forbes Complex) Lounge. The RWC lounge is located across the street from the Lumberjack Arena at the top of Union Street. (Metered and lot parking all along Union Street is free on Sunday.) Here is a loose schedule:

1:00-1:30: Introduction

1:30-2:50 USA Rules and Humboldt Fastpitch rule modifications

3:00-3:45 Game Management and general officiating advice

3:45-5:00: Signals and mechanics on field drills and practice

We plan to be done around 5:30.

Please bring food and beverages for yourself. There will not be food provided although some beverages will be available. Please wear clothing and shoes that you feel comfortable running around in.

Gear such as chin guards, face masks, and chest protectors are provided at each field for umpires to use. Things you may need to purchase are a hat, shirt, pants, belt, shoes, depending on what you have. More details at the training.

If you need to order new gear or would like help understanding what to order, I will be available to assist; so please bring your checkbooks.

Finally, please reply to this email to confirm you received the email and will be attending or want to be taken off the list this season

I look forward to working with you all.

See you Sunday.
