Umpires,
This is a courteous reminder about the USA umpire training
being
held at the HSU campus on Sunday, March 25th from 1pm to 5:30pm.
Attendance at this
training is required in order to officiate for us.
It would be great for
you all to consider registering with USA Umpire; you would need a form of
identification and there is a fee to enroll.
We are meeting at
Humboldt State University. We will first meet in the Recreation and Wellness
Center (formerly Forbes Complex) Lounge. The
RWC lounge is located across the street from the Lumberjack Arena at the top of
Union Street. (Metered and lot parking
all along Union Street is free on Sunday.) Here is a loose schedule:
1:00-1:30:
Introduction
1:30-2:50 USA Rules
and Humboldt Fastpitch rule modifications
3:00-3:45 Game
Management and general officiating advice
3:45-5:00: Signals and
mechanics on field drills and practice
We
plan to be done around 5:30.
Please
bring food and beverages for yourself. There will not be food provided although
some beverages will be available. Please wear clothing and shoes that you feel
comfortable running around in.
Gear
such as chin guards, face masks, and chest protectors are provided at each
field for umpires to use. Things you may need to purchase are a hat, shirt,
pants, belt, shoes, depending on what you have. More details at the
training.
If
you need to order new gear or would like help understanding what to order, I
will be available to assist; so please bring your checkbooks.
